Hours of Darkness:
By

When you come across this
website address, you might be forgiven for thinking that it’s about
things you can do in the dark. It would probably conjure up images of
fun activities you can engage in when you are left in the dark, to
occupy yourself for a few hours.
Well, there is a little bit
of truth in this, because
www.hoursofdarkness.com is a
website that boasts a collection of night and low light photography.
And many people would consider taking photos as one fun thing that you
could do when the sun is down.
The website features an
impressive collection of photos, taken by a self-taught photographer based in New York. In
their description of themselves in the “Artists” section of the
website, they emphasize that, “with this website we try to share how
we see things through the camera lens”. And, once you browse through
the images that they have gathered, you will realize that the way that
they see things through the camera lens is rather spectacular indeed.
There are a few sections of
images on this website, with a total of six galleries. They are
“Night” (three galleries), “Black & White”, “Black & White Light”, and
“Light”. It’s hard to pick a favorite among all of them, as each has
its unique charm. Also, because there are a myriad of subjects that
are covered in the images, each of these photos will appeal to you in
a different way.
Subjects photographed
include street signs, roads, buildings, vehicles and bridges. But it
really doesn’t matter what the subject is, because they’re all
fascinating and very well taken. Some might say that they are
artistically shot, but others may be of the opinion that they’re just
tastefully taken, hence why you see them in the best light (no pun
intended). |
